At the beginning of next year, the Board of Directors will once again be complete. As reported in a press release from the power tool specialist, the Supervisory Board appointed Erhard Krauss as new Director for Development, Production, Technology and Purchasing with effect from 1 February 2006. Following the departure of Jürgen Kusserow, Dr Johannes Haupt, the Chairman of the Board, has provisionally headed this area since the end of April 2005. Krauss (46) is a graduate engineer and “brings with him substantial qualifications for this both important and diverse Metabo position”, Dieter Maier emphasizes. According to the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, this is also true for the international side of the business, which plays such an important role for the medium-sized company based in Nürtingen, Germany. The company makes 80% of its turnover with exports. The strong global orientation is also underlined by the fact that the vast product range manufactured in Germany, France and China is currently sold in 120 countries. After training as a technical drawer and studying mechanical engineering at Munich Technical University, the new member of the Board began his professional career at MTU – Germany’s leading producer of military and civilian aeronautics. Here, Krauss’s positions included manufacturing engineer and head of NC production technology in Munich, and finally production manager in Berlin-Ludwigsfelde. In 1997, he switched to the French Faurecia Group, which is one of the most important suppliers of the automotive industry in the world. There, Krauss assumed management of the production location in Trabitz, in Northern Bavaria, and from 2002 he also held the function of Northern Europe coordinator in Fürth. At the beginning of 2003 he became head of operations and a member of management at Heinrich Kopp GmbH in Kahl am Main, one of the leading producers of electrical switch programmes for private and professional use. Here he is in charge of all national and international production and logistic locations, the field “Global Sourcing” as well as the development sector.
